Book and Poster Design
The product of a 10-week research intensive, A Woman, A Man, A Cactus, A Hippo: Pina Bausch is a 424 page book that celebrates the life work of Pina Bausch, from her historical Ausdrucktanz roots through to the legacy her company continues in her absence.
A series of posters accompanying and presenting the book reveal a few of Pina's philosophy of dance, her working methods, and her interest in a comprehensive work of art to convey the most complex human emotions she was unpacking.

In connection to this book, HAPPINA → was created to merge the fields of graphic design and dance in a more literal manifestation. Through the efforts of myself, my colleague Charles Lin, and the modern dancer Charlotte Smith, HAPPINA exists as a three level performative dance piece with graphic interventions in space.
