Identity System, Print Collateral, Signage, and Interface
This new identity is for the Rothko Chapel, the non-denominational sacred space, human rights center, and one-man art gallery in Houston, Texas. The 14 paintings from Rothko's "Black Period" were commissioned by Dominique and John de Menil when they built the chapel with his artistic guidance in 1970. Inspired by Rothko's work and the somber yet profound voice of the chapel, the new identity embraces classicism and contemporaneity as it plays out in print, environmental and web based applications.
In conjunction with the new identity, I created the concept, visual language and interactive installation for "From Silence" → a symposium on Mystic Minimalism and its key proponents Henryk Gorécki, Arvo Pärt, and Sir John Tavener.
